Obviously I missed Emery's 8 month post since I was on vacation and didn't have a computer so I'm combining the last two months into one. :) Emery has such a hilarious personality for a 9 month old - she is always talking to herself, making new noise, laughing at herself and us, and she seems to have quite an imagination. I took her to her 9 month appointment on Jan 17th and when the doctor came in she was sitting on the exam table in her diaper just waiting patiently. Dr. Sayers came in and pulled his chair up so he was eye level with her and said "Hi Emery!" She immediately picked up her right hand above her head and started waving at him by opening and closing her hand and bending her wrist. I had been working with her trying to teach her how to wave, but this was the first time she had done it on her own. He was very impressed and said, "wow, you're waving at me?!?!" And I being the proud Mommy, said "good job Emery!!!" With all the praise she was getting she was so proud of herself and happy to see everyone so happy that she started clapping for herself and giggling. It was so funny! He said she is extremely social - which of course we already knew :)
Her stats for her 9 month appointment were:
Height: 29 1/4 inches - 94th percentile
Weight: 21 lbs 6 oz - 88th percentile
Head Circumference: 18 1/2 inches - 99th percentile
She will grow into her head sometime right? Of course! She is so much fun and we just adore her.
Updates:
Emery is a crawling machine these days. Scooting is a thing of the past! She is actually pretty fast and she is usually quickly crawling in the direction of something she shouldn't be playing with
Emery pulls herself up on everything - she spends most of her day standing by the couch/chairs/toys/entertainment center/walls/doors/etc... anything she can stand by she will and she will stay there forever!
She is of course cruising along the furniture, transferring from one thing to the next, and at times attempting, not successfully (yet) to climb up onto the couches.
She uses her little car to walk from one side of our little apartment to the other - its one of her favorite things to do.
Emery has started to stand on her own quite a bit lately. If she finds something on the couch, like the remote, she will grab it and stand there without even realizing that she is not leaning or hanging onto anything. She can stand for 10-15 seconds on her own until she falls over. No walking steps yet, but hopefully soon!
Emery babbles and talks all the time and has actually said a few words! She says Mama, and has said Dada a couple of times too! Although, she will not say them when you ask her to but only when she really wants something haha....stubborn much?
Emery has taken off with eating solids and has had so many things I won't try to name them - other than baby food some of her favorites are lunch meat, string cheese, cheerios, spaghetti, mac&cheese (although she got a terrible rash from this so we are having to avoid all processed cheeses for now), avocado, bananas, beans/rice, and toast. She will pretty much eat anything that we eat and make so we are slowing giving her table food and so far she hasn't disliked any of it. :)
Emery had her first ear infection right before we left for vacation - she actually had a double ear infection and was on antibiotics for 10 days. Doctor said her ears look great so thank goodness that is all cleared up.
Emery's sleep is a little rocky these days - with the ear infection, traveling, time changes, she has had a couple rough months. We are very strict on bedtime and she is always in bed at 7 - but she has been waking up more than usual. Sometimes we get her to wake up only 1x a night, but lately it has been more like 2-4x a night. Not ideal..but we are working on it.
Emery is doing formula about 50% of the time, nursing 50% of the time - we will see how long we can keep that up...Mom is thinking not very much longer - she actually likes bottles a lot better except for at night...I think when she is extra tired she likes nursing more - who knows I think she is just super spoiled.
Emery loves to play peek-a-boo and hide and seek. She loves it when she hide behind the corner and peek around to see her - she just races over to find you - we play hide and seek a lot.
She is climbing on everything and has had a couple of spills, but nothing too seriously yet :)
Emery is getting a little better during church because we can usually distract her with snacks - I swear she eats so many Gerber's puffs she is going to turn into one sooner or later - but at least she is quiet most of the time. When she does decide to talk we usually have to take her out because talking quickly turns into screaming.
Emery's hair is starting to grow and it is blond and coming in kind of curly - we love it.
Still loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when she gets fussy - she now officially thinks the Ipad is her toy and that whenever it is out she needs to play with it - she as you can imagine it doesn't get taken out much when she is around.
Emery has started "dancing" when she hears music or when he toys play music - its pretty cute
As usual I'm sure I'm missing several things and little tricks that she has done recently, but I think this hits the main things - now onto the fun part - pictures of course!
